RSI Speaker Series: Social Issues in Rehabilitation (PART 2)

We are excited to announce the next installment of the RSI Speaker Series. The event will be a two-part series collaboration between the Speaker Series, rehabINK, and executive committees of RSGSU taking place April 26th 12-2pm and May 10th 12-2pm.

Our second event on Monday May 10th from 12-2 p.m. EST will focus on the Influence of Socioeconomic Status on Rehabilitation, and Disability Rights and Access to Rehabilitation. Featuring Dr. Sherry L. Grace, Senior Scientist at KITE-Toronto Rehab; and Dr. Alisa Grigorovich, Assistant Scientist at KITE-Toronto Rehab, and Dr. Patrick Campbell, Academic Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The event will be divided into two 2-hour sessions with each session covering two of the themes listed above. The first hour of each session will consist of back-to-back 15-minute presentations from our keynote speakers, followed by concurrent 1-hour breakout room panel discussions on each theme. Panels will include the keynote speaker, an author from rehabINK’s recent issue Social Issues in Rehabilitation: Diversity, Care and Inclusion, and a person with lived experience on the topic.

As a world leader in rehabilitation practice and research, we believe that RSI and RSGSU have an obligation to promote discussion and action related to social issues in the context of rehabilitation, research, and healthcare. Furthermore, we believe that learning and discussing these issues is an imperative component of academic training for students in the field of rehabiltiation practice and rehabiltiation science.

Speaker profiles and details for event registration will be released in the coming weeks. Any questions in the meantime may be directed to rehabsciencegsu@gmail.com.

We look forward to sharing in this important event with you.

Sincerely,

RSGSU Speaker Series, rehabINK and Executive Committees
